Dog Days

Today, Myra decided that she was a Doggy. I humored her by playing fetch, doing doggy tricks with her and even setting out a bowl of water on the ground for her to drink out of. When our dog, Nena, wanted to go outside, I let Myra out with her as well. However, I had to put my foot down to her pretending when I looked out the window and she was on the grass, with her pants (and undies) down, ready to go to the bathroom. She was pretty upset when I made her come in the house and use the toilet. After all, dog's don't use the toilet, right? Oh, the joys of parenthood!

Enjoying the Nice Weather

We haven't had too much going on in our lives right now. At least, nothing exciting to report. The kids continue to play and fight together very well. They absolutely adore each other. Chad's still really busy with work and school. And I'm getting fatter every day. We've really enjoyed the nice weather this past week and have BBQ'd almost every day. We're pretty sad that the rain has come again. At least it's getting warmer. Here are a couple of pictures of the girls playing at the park.

Pictures

Last week I had Myra and Lexi's pictures taken. What a task! Lexi was being so stubborn. She refused to smile. She would just shake her head and say No! Needless to say, there weren't a lot of great pictures to choose from. Although there were a couple of adorable ones of Myra. Here's a few of the pictures that were taken.

The photographer kept asking if I wanted Easter props, which I told her no several times. Then what happens? I turn around and she's put these silly Easter bunny ears on the girls. Of course, 2 of the best pictures were with the dumb ears on. I thought it was so silly though because the pictures wouldn't even be done until after Easter. Anyway, here are 2 of my favorites, minus the dumb ears.

It's A......

Baby!!!
Today we had our half-way there Baby appointment. That's the one where they do the big ultrasound and you get to find out what you are having. However, Chad and I decided that with this baby, we would let it be a surprise, so we didn't find out what we are having. I didn't think I would ever be patient enough to not find out when I got the chance. But, once Chad and I made the decision to not find out, it wasn't that big of a deal. The ultrasound tech, our nurse and doctor all seemed to think it was kind of cool that we decided to wait as well. They said that they hardly ever have anyone not find out. We figure that if we have a girl, it won't be a big deal, because we have tons of girl stuff. And if it's a boy, then Chad will run to the store and grab a couple of boy outfits to bring him home in, then we'll just dress him in girl stuff after that anyway. Haha, Just Kidding! I also just finished making a somewhat gender-neutral blanket for the baby. Maybe it's a little more boyish, but I would use it for a girl.
Anyway, we are really excited to be half-way there! Everything looked great at our appointment. I have another appointment with the heart specialist at Primary Children's Hospital next week (because of the heart problem I had when I was a baby), and after that the doctor will do a few more ultrasounds than normal, just because of what happened with Lexi. But, as for now, the baby looks healthy! They had a hard time doing the ultrasound because the baby was practically folded in half, with both feet and hands in front of it's face. We didn't get any good ultrasound pictures, except for this cute one of it's feet. Sorry to all of you out there that LOVE ultrasound pictures. :-)
One last thing. This is the first pregnancy I've taken pictures of my belly growth each month. I wish I'd done it in the past, but oh well. So, here's a picture of me a couple of weeks ago. I haven't gained any weight yet, but you wouldn't know it by looking at that fat belly. :-)

Easter Day

We had a fun Easter this year. We woke up, had breakfast and while I was upstairs giving the girls a bath, guess what happened? That silly Easter bunny snuck into our house and hid the easter eggs the kids had dyed around the house, along with a couple of other little gifts. The girls had a fun time searching all over for them. Myra thought it was so funny that the Easter Bunny would hide our eggs.
After church, we headed down to my parents house in Sandy. My mom had put together cute Easter baskets for the girls and for Chad and I. We had a yummy dinner, then headed out back for the "traditional" pinata breaking and egg hunt. Myra, Lexi and my mom were the only ones that had a turn at the pinata, until I took my turn and knocked it down. It apparently wasn't constructed too well, because I'm not sure I even hit it when it fell. Oh well. Then the girls got to search around the yard for hidden Easter eggs. They both loved it. Myra was, of course, quick to spot them and was running around as quick as she could to find them all. Lexi picked up on the activity really quickly as well. She really seemed to enjoy it. After, we played a game of Croquet with Bre and Danny. We finished off the night with a long game of Trivial pursuit and some Strawberry Shortcake. Yum! We didn't get home until after 11, but we had a really fun evening.

Pre-Easter Activities

We had some fun pre-Easter activities this past weekend. On Thursday, Camille and Maddie came over and the kids all dyed Easter eggs. They all seemed to have a good time. Lexi would take the eggs and practically throw them in the dye cups. She loved it. She actually ended up dropping several on the floor. Oops.
On Friday afternoon, we went to Baby Animal days with our friends, the Days. Myra was so excited to go, especially for the pony ride. When we got there, we first went to see all of the baby animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chicks, ducks, and rabbits. Of course, both girls loved it. Then we took the girls for their pony ride. This was the thing Myra had looked forward to the whole time, but once there, she got scared. She started out by herself, but then Chad had to go walk around with her. Lexi was fearless though, and really enjoyed the pony ride. Now, when I ask Myra what her favorite part of Baby animal days was, she tells me it was the Pony ride. Even though she cried throughout most of it??? Funny girl!
On Saturday morning, Chad went golfing and I took the girls to the mall and met up with Janelle, Camille and Maddie. We waited in forever long lines so that the kids could run around and pick up candy off the floor. They enjoyed it, except for waiting in line so long. After we went over to a local grocery store and walked around to get more candy. Like they really needed any more. :-)

On Saturday afternoon, Chad and I took the girls to the park. It was so nice to get out of the house and let the kids play. They loved it! We weren't able to stay too long since it got pretty cold and started raining, but it was long enough for everyone to have a good time. Lexi surprised us by climbing right up to the highest slide and going down by herself. She was pretty shocked once she got to the bottom. I'm not sure it was what she had expected. But, she liked it enough to go down several more times, although she mostly stuck to the smaller slide.
Having this semi-nice weather has really gotten me in the mood for warm days and Summer!

Sleeping Beauties

A few nights ago, we checked on the girls after putting them to bed and this is how we found Lexi sleeping. Of course we had to take a picture. Not to be outdone, Myra - who was still awake, called us back in a few minutes later to get her picture taken as well. Silly girls!

Fablehaven

Chad and I often enjoy reading books together. We usually choose youth books, such as Harry Potter and the Eragon series. A couple of years ago we came across the first book in a series called Fablehaven. Ever since then, we have been hooked! The 4th book just came out and we finished reading it last night. They are such great books! I recommend them to everyone. They are about fairies, goblins, demons, trolls, dragons, centaurs and all other mythical creatures. They are such a fun read! The other plans on releasing one more book, so we have to wait a whole year to finish the series, so we are definitely looking forward to that. As another side note, the author is LDS and is from Utah. So no worries about foul language or such. So, if you are looking for a fun read, check them out!

Because the Baby's Bored

I KNOW that the unborn baby in my tummy is BORED! So, I think I might get one of these.

Read more about it here. I know that babies can hear you while they are in the womb and that some people even recommend playing classical musical to an unborn child to make them smarter. But... Does my baby really need me to wear an electrical band around my belly that can play music, record my voice (like they don't hear it already) and has flashing lights. I guess the sewn-in massagers at the back wouldn't be too bad, but I just can't imagine wearing something like this around all day. Anyway, I thought it was kind of funny and that all of you mothers or mothers-to-be out there might appreciate it.

Best Friends

Myra and Lexi have always gotten along, but it seems lately they have made a leap from being just sisters that like each other, to Best Friends. When it comes time to play, there's no one else they would rather play with. They start their day off by waking each other up. Myra will open up the blinds in there room and they just start laughing and talking. When I go in there in the morning, Lexi usually has all kinds of toys in her crib and they are just having a blast. In the morning, they spend most of their time playing in their room. Myra never asks to watch a movie in the morning anymore. Her and Lexi just have too much fun playing. The rooms always a disaster after, but at least they are entertained and I can get a few things done around the house. Then after lunch, if they both take a nap, it takes them a while to fall asleep with all the talking and giggling that goes on and once again, they both get up at the same time. If Myra doesn't take a nap, which is most of the time, she's so bored, she doesn't know what to do with herself. She constantly asks me, "Mom, what should I do?" And no matter what I get out to entertain her, she loses interest so fast. Whether it's paints, playdough, crayons or even a movie. Nothing is as entertaining as her sister. Myra always hears Lexi wake up before I do and she runs up to "check" on her. They play together for the rest of the afternoon into the evening. At bedtime, they will often stay up an hour or so, just talking, giggling and playing in the room. Who knows how it will be once Lexi gets out of the crib. They'll never go to sleep. It has been so fun to see them get along with each other so well. They are always giving each other hugs and helping each other out. Of course, they bicker at times, but it is so minimal. I hope this continues! It will be interesting to see how things change when the baby gets here. Hopefully they will all get a long well then too. Both girls are so excited about having a new baby around. Hopefully they will feel the same when it's here.
